If you haven’t heard yet, Canadian truck drivers have organized a peaceful protest with one simple ask - NO MORE MANDATES! Canadian’s have been subject to overly strict governmental covid restrictions and they are sick of it. Vaccine passports have become the norm in order to participate in every day life in Canada. I’m not here to tell you what to believe or think but at the end of the day the point is that people should have a choice what they put in their body and freedoms should ABSOLUTELY NOT be taken away because of this. The governments job is to be our servants, not our masters.
For the protest, truckers formed a convoy, traveling to Ottawa, the Capital, in an attempt to get the government to overturn the mandates. This convoy picked up steam and gained popularity as countless Canadians came out to show their support and also join the convoy. Now in Ottawa, THOUSANDS of Canadians are peacefully protesting their governments rules.
Money was raised in support of this protest via GoFundMe to the tune of $9 million dollars! That’s a lot of support and a lot of money. As you can see from the tweet above and below, GoFundMe made the decision to cut off these funds and disallow the people to support their cause. It is thought that these funds were seized through pressure from Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister. Mr. Trudeau has been outspoken enforcing these governmental restrictions and conveniently got covid as this convoy was approaching Ottawa and is MIA as he quarantines and refuses to meet with his protesters….. THE CITIZENS OF CANADA!
Since hearing of this overt censorship some Canadian Bitcoiners took it upon themselves to setup a donation page that accepted Bitcoin. This allows for the Freedom Convoy to accept money that cannot be taken away at the whims of politicians and governmental overreach. The power of having money free from censorship is truly amazing and cannot be overstated. No matter what you believe in, right or wrong, people should be able to support it. Nobody on this planet should have the right to decide what gets funded and what doesn’t. Censorship might sound fine when it aligns with your beliefs but it is the ultimate weapon when it is used against you.

When the government controls the money they control the world and everything/everyone within it. Thank god for Bitcoin. As John Vallis points out as he was replying to the GoFundMe tweet, Bitcoin is freedom money, and the world really needs it! Bitcoin is the ultimate peaceful protest as it defunds the government and takes the power of the printing press away from them.
